Intro
If you’ve ever stepped into a Scheels, you know it’s not just a sporting goods store—it’s an experience. From Ferris wheels to giant aquariums and themed attractions, each location has its own unique flavor. I’ve made it my mission to visit every Scheels in the United States, and along the way, I’m documenting my favorite features, quirks, and tips for fellow adventurers.

The First Store
In Sabin, Minnesota Three acres of potatoes were the seed for the first SCHEELS store in 1902. Frederick A. Scheel, a German immigrant, used the $300 he earned from that first harvest as the down payment on the first SCHEELS, a small hardware and general merchandise store in Sabin, Minnesota.
